Why does the shipping variation show on digital products? I’ve looked at all your documentation and have tried every combination you’ve proposed and nothing works like it should.
I just want to have a flat shipping rate for physical products, with a shipping variation so that the user can choose shipping or not (Do you require Shipping?|No Thanks:0|Please ship my order:12). For digital products there should be no shipping cost, yet it shows up!
I have added 0.001 to my product’s Item Shipping Costs and nothing for digital products. Under Settings I set the base shipping cost to 0 and added a variation: Do you require Shipping?|No Thanks:0|Please ship my order:12
So why is it adding shipping to my digital products? What should I do?
September 19, 2012 at 12:09 am #49400adminKeymasterCheck eStore settings and verify that you do not have the following option checked:
Always Display Shipping Variation
What version of eStore are you using? Also, post a link to your product page in question.
September 24, 2012 at 11:28 pm #49401BlogelinaMemberI also have this problem with the latest version. Paypal is adding a shipping cost to my items even though they are just digital. I didn’t change any settings as I upgraded and I didn’t have this problem with the previous edition of estore.

Please make sure in your PayPal account you have the “3rd party override shipping” setting checked. This will allow eStore to override the shipping setup and bypass the profile based shipping for eStore checkout. More details here:
October 7, 2012 at 12:27 am #49403Rays Bone FormulaMemberPROBLEM – WP e-Store / manage products / Digital Content Details / Shipping & Tax … we uploaded the digital PDF, checked “downloadable” and have tax and shipping set to zero values. It still adds shipping to the final checkout screen on PayPal.
FORUM – When testing the purchase of our digital product at checkout PayPal charges shipping of $3.95. So, we went to the forum and found this answer:

PAYPAL TECH SUPPORT – There is no 3rd party override shipping setting to check or unchecked anywhere on merchant profile. There is no such thing. This support came from high level support staff at PayPal.
URGENT – We just bought your WP e-Store plugin along with the WP Affiliate plugin got everything working correctly and at the final step we have this problem. Please get back to us ASAP to resolve this problem.
October 7, 2012 at 12:58 am #49404adminKeymasterIf there is no profile shipping override option in PayPal then why does PayPal have the following documentation that tells you how to do this?
or the following:
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_pdn_cart_overrides_outside
or the following screenshot on their documentation:
Contact another support personnel from PayPal who might have a better idea.
October 7, 2012 at 4:49 am #49405Rays Bone FormulaMemberThis information in your reply does not reflect what’s available to us in our American merchant panel. No such categories exist under “profile.”
October 7, 2012 at 5:03 am #49406Rays Bone FormulaMemberOne other question… we added the affiliate login credentials to the top right side of our blog: [http://www.channeledreadings.com/CRNews/]
We need to change the color of the credential text to WHITE because our back ground color is dark blue. How do we do that?
October 7, 2012 at 5:22 am #49407adminKeymasterIn case you didn’t know… 90% of our customers are American. Any country where PayPal allows profile based shipping will have an option to override the profile based shipping. It is the only way a 3rd party shopping cart can override that value.
PayPal moves their profile items around all the time so it may not be exactly where that document is saying but if you look around in your profile you will find it.
In my US PayPal account this option is located in the following area:
My Profile -> My Selling Tools -> Shipping calculations
And then in that screen I have an option for the following (this is just below where I specify the profile based shipping):
Click here to allow transaction-based postage values to override the profile postage settings listed above.
So, try going to the screen where you specified the profile based shipping and look in there for the above mentioned option.
Please open a new topic under the affiliate plugin forum category regarding the affiliate plugin issue so the answers don’t get all mixed up.
October 7, 2012 at 7:00 pm #49408Rays Bone FormulaMemberHi and thanks for your response… it appears you and I have different types of PayPal accounts? We have u.S. Merchant acct. Under “My Profile” there is no choice at all labeled “My Selling Tools” and therefore, no choice marked “Shipping Calculations.”
In our Profile section, we do have a category labeled “Hosted Payment Settings” and under that category there is a section labeled “Shipping Calculator.” When you click on this option, it only shows you the shipping schemes you’ve already set up – for us it is one for US/Domestic and the other is International.
There is no choice on that page that says: “Click here to allow transaction-based postage values to override the profile postage settings listed above.”
Apparently, this is the elusive checkbox that nobody at PayPal we’ve spoken with can find and neither can we!
If somebody knows where this is on a Merchant acct, please let us know.
Thanks….
October 7, 2012 at 9:04 pm #49409adminKeymasterLets make this easy. Ask PayPal support the following question which should help:
I have PayPal profile based shipping configured in my PayPal account. I am now using another shopping cart in one of my sites. I need this shopping cart to be able to override my shipping cost for the transaction done by this cart. Everyone keeps telling me that there is a setting like the following in my merchant profile but I can’t find it:
Use the shipping fee in the transaction instead of my calculator’s settings
To be more specific I am referring to the option mentioned in the following screenshot (this was taken from PayPal’s documentation)
Where can I find this option?
October 8, 2012 at 10:13 pm #49410Rays Bone FormulaMemberWe need to find the setting to stop automatic enrollment of new buyer to our affiliate program
October 9, 2012 at 5:41 am #49411adminKeymasterUncheck the “Automatically Create Affiliate Account After Purchase” option from the following eStore settings:
eStore settings -> AddOn Settings -> Affiliate Platform Plugin Specific settings
August 14, 2013 at 4:13 am #49412labdptSpectatorI am amazed that PayPal has survived with it’s awful admin user interface.
I discovered the following:
1) My Profile -> My Selling Tools -> Shipping calculations.
2) For each Shipping Method the override will need to be set. Place a check mark next to the Shipping Profile to be modified and click on the edit button.
3) In the Currency and Shipping Region: section, Click on the Yes radio button next to the “Use the shipping fee in the transaction instead of my calculator’s settings” option.
4) Click on the Save Changes button.
Repeat for each Shipping Method.
The new settings can be verified by placing a check mark next to the shipping method and clicking on the View button. If correct you will see “Override shipping methods per transaction” set to On
September 5, 2013 at 2:27 am #49413labdptSpectatorEven though I have set the shipping method override in my PayPal profile shipping is still being added to shopping carts with more than one digital product. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank You.
