Is there a way, using the weight-based Paypal method, to charge a shipping cost to a product that is a bundle of a digital product and a physical product? We want to have the download available immediately, then a physical copy arrive later. We currently are doing this, but Paypal seems to ignore the shipping weight and not charge shipping. What’s the best way to remedy this?
This one is slightly tricky but should be doable. You have the “Use PayPal Profile Based Shipping” option checked in the eStore plugin settings?
Also, have you specified the weight value in the bundled product (the one that includes both the digital and the physical product)? The weight value of this bundled product should be the same as the physical one.
I’ve got both of those enabled, but currently I’ve just got a single product that stands for both a physical and digital product. I assume that having the digital product option checked off overrides the shipping weight (which is specified)? What’s the process for actually making a bundle of products that are both physical and digital? From the tutorial I can see, I can only make sense of how to bundle two digital products?
Bundle products usually means that you have 2 or more different products and then you bundle them and create another product.
From your explanation, it doesn’t look like you need to bundle anything. You basically have a single physical product that also has a digital download. Simply configure the physical product with weight value any any other shipping needs you may have. Now, specify a digital download URL to this product too (A physical product can have a downloadable item). When your customers purchase this item, they will get the downloadable item immediately after the payment and then you will later ship the item.
Please post a link to the page where you have the purchase button for this product so I can check and see if it is sending the weight value correctly to PayPal.
