Tagged: sales tax, sales tax calculation, tax
Hi –
We need to add sales tax onto purchases happening on our site coming from the state in which we operate. We want to be able to calculate the sales tax by the zip code the customer plugs in to see if sales tax is applicable. If it IS applicable, we want it to pull from a database of zip codes that store the various tax rates that would be used to calculate the appropriate amount of tax their order should be charged.
Based on what the sales tax option can do ‘out of the box’ in eStore, it doesn’t look like this is possible. Is there an additional plugin you could recommend that could do this for us? Or is this a custom module we will need to have developers create for us? We prefer not to use the PayPal profile based tax calculation either since by what I understand, the purchase must be made through PayPal (either by credit card or via PayPal account). Most of our transactions are completed by credit card through our payment gateway.
Thank you in advance for your help! Love eStore btw…
Hello Lalylsite, have you read through the following URL
Thank you for your comment
Hi – thanks for the response.
Yes, we have read through that post. My confusion and question lies within if the transaction would have to be completed through PayPal (either through their PayPal account, or by Credit Card in PayPal) if we used that solution?
We use Authorize.net for credit card transactions, and prefer to keep it that way for credit card transactions. From what I understand, if we used the PayPal solution for sales tax, ALL transactions would be completed through PayPal.
Thanks in advance for clarification!
Hi, Yeah the regional sales tax is only done via PayPal. Authorize.net do not have a regional sales tax feature like PayPal does unfortunately.
Ok, thanks so much for the confirmation about this!
