Without changing the plugin php files directly (as they may get overwritten in any subsequent updates), is there anyway of adding additional arguments in order to :-

a) specify which category without selecting each category? ie Type=’2′

b) Show_price=0 & Order=3 etc.?

My products are only in one category (2) and subscriptions in category (1)

All products are chronologically named, and therefore it would be ideal to have them returned in alphabetic order, with the download button

I have tried many options of product_browse, add_to_cart etc, but there appears no defacto way of passing the additional arguments without a lot of additional coding.

Yes for a) I would like to specify the one category to be searched

Then in the search itself specify b) for the display of the results.

It will always search the category that you are currently browsing. So if you are in a page viewing products of category X then it will search category X if use the search option there. If you specify ONE category then how will the user search other products?

That addon doesn’t have any advanced options for search. The user that developed it didn’t keep any option for that. We can do a custom job for you to customize this according to your retirement. Use the following option if you are interested:
