I am having a problem getting edits to estore product info to save.
When I add a new product or change some of the fields in the old products, I get a message that the new product has been created or that the product has been updated, but all of the fields are emptied out and the product has not saved.
1. It takes 42 seconds to save the product edits;
2. After the save, I receive “product updated” message on top of screen, but the product name, product price, and product description and other product detail lines are all now blank on the screen.
3. In the case of an edited product, When I go to “Manage Products” – the old version of the product displays and if click edit that same product from the manage products screen, none of the changes I previously saved are there. All the old data is there.
MY VERSIONS:
Site: simpleascension dot com
WP eStore Settings v 6.9.1.7
WP eMembers – Dashboard v8.3.1
WP Lightbox – General Settings v1.4.5
WordPress 3.4.2
Host: LivingDot
Apache version 2.2.23
MySQL version 5.1.65-cll
PHP version 5.2.17
Perl version 5.8.8
I have used the same hosting co/cpanel since 2009 and this problem seems to have just come up in the last 2.5 months.
New plugins installed in last 2 months are wp-optimize and wp smushit.
The fact that the data is disappearing from the product name, product id and product description and other e-store fields makes me wonder whether it’s an e-store thing. I can save and edit posts just fine (although it takes 15 seconds to save blog post).
WHAT I’VE DONE SO FAR:
I’ve cleared my browser cache but that didn’t fix it. I ran WP-Optimize and optimized all my tables, but that didn’t fix it. I’ve contacted my host and they suggested I install a cache program to improve site speed, but had no ideas re why e-store product edits are not saving.
Thank you for your help!
November 17, 2012 at 4:35 am #51474adminKeymasterThe product edits not saving and not being able to add new product is related to the following issue:
Here is another use who made this same mistake:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/not-able-to-edit-products
Product save taking too long would be related to the following:
For some reason, on your site eStore is failing to validate the URL values you entered when configuring the product. Do the following to disable the URL validation that eStore does when you save a product.
Open the “eStore_advanced_configs.php” file and search for the following line of code:
define('WP_ESTORE_DO_NOT_CHECK_URL_VALIDITY', '0');
Once you find it, change it to the following:
define('WP_ESTORE_DO_NOT_CHECK_URL_VALIDITY', '1');
November 18, 2012 at 1:31 am #51475alloneinvestmentsMemberThank you Admin. Unfortunately, these things did not work.
1. The problems with the site being slow and wp e-store not saving the edits actually started BEFORE I ever upgraded from the 1 and only e-store version I ever purchased. So the slowness and products not saving could not have been due to my not upgrading properly because they started before I ever upgraded and continued on after I upgraded.
2. Back in October 2012 (I’ve been trying to resolve this for awhile), I decided to upgrade thinking maybe that was the problem. When I upgraded – I followed Upgrade Method 1 listed here: https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/plugin-installation-and-upgrade-instructions. I have since tried Upgrade Method #2 as well. And neither way solves the problem. I did the upgrade again today by 1) requesting a fresh copy of the plugin through autoupdate, 2) deactivating old plugin, 3) deleting old plugin and 4) using ftp to upload the new fresh copy of plugin into the plugins subfolder and 5) activating the plugin. This still did not resolve the slowness of the site and wp-estore new products are still not saving.
When upgrading:
b) I have not received any errors when activating the plugin.
c) I have not modified any database related code in the plugin without properly changing the table structures.
e) I have not had multiple copies of the plugin lying around in the “plugins” directory of your WordPress installation.
3. Re the URL validation: I opened the “eStore_advanced_configs.php” file and searched for the following line of code: define(‘WP_ESTORE_DO_NOT_CHECK_URL_VALIDITY’, ‘0’);
When I search my copy of the file “eStore_advanced_configs.php” in dreamweaver for the exact line of code listed above, I get the message that that string of test is not found. In fact the word “validity” or “VALIDITY” is not found throughout the entire file.
I have been trying to fix this for such a long time and I have new products that I can’t get out because I can’t save them in e-store. Is there anything else I could try? Please help. Thank you!
November 19, 2012 at 2:31 am #51476adminKeymasterYou said, you upgraded the plugin but then you can’t find that string tells me that something went wrong with the upgrade. I sent you an email to get access to the site so I can check it out.
November 19, 2012 at 4:29 am #51477alloneinvestmentsMemberThank you! I sent in the contact form just now.
November 20, 2012 at 3:12 am #51478adminKeymasterTwo things:
1) You had the OZH’ Admin Drop Down Menu which conflicts. I deactivated the plugin. The folloiwng post explains why:
2) I have applied the following configuration tweak to disable URL validation check on your site:
Open the “eStore_advanced_configs.php” file and search for the following line of code:
define('WP_ESTORE_DO_NOT_CHECK_URL_VALIDITY', '0');
Once you find it, change it to the following:
define('WP_ESTORE_DO_NOT_CHECK_URL_VALIDITY', '1');
Now I can add and edit products without any issue.
April 18, 2014 at 8:39 am #51479theshiftMemberHi – I am having the same issue. My products says they are saved, but they don’t. I tried deactivating the plugins you mentioned (and tried a few others), and doing a fresh install, but nothing happens. Would love your help!
I am using 3.9, but this happened before I updated.
WP eStore Settings v 7.0.5

April 19, 2014 at 3:44 am #51480adminKeymasterIs this on a brand new install of eStore or after you upgraded the plugin?
What happens if you do the following as a test?
Enter a very simple product name like “Test Product” and a price of $50 then hit the save button. Does that one save?
April 19, 2014 at 9:31 am #51481theshiftMemberI installed the wordpress update after I installed estore. then I deleted estore reinstalled it.
The test product worked.
But the one from before Shift Master’s Coaching didn’t
However, when I changed the name to SM Coaching it did. No ‘ ??
April 20, 2014 at 4:59 am #51482adminKeymasterokay, please do the following now and tell me what happens after that:
