My referral program offers a discount for the customer using the affiliate ID. (So $5 off order to the customer and $5 to the person who referred the customer).

I found how to prevent self affiliate commission, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to prevent self discount when using the code? For example, I don’t want Jill Smith to use her own affiliate code to receive $5 off purchases.

Isn’t that kind of an exercise in futility? “Jill” could always use an email address and/or payment method that you don’t know about. You’d only be “keeping honest people honest”

At the moment the plugin can’t do that differentiation. Do you get many affiliates to buy items using their own coupon?

I had one person try it, but it didn’t work because I didn’t add their code to the coupon table yet. I have many $4 or $5 digital downloads and I’m afraid once they figure out they could use their code, they’ll just keep downloading them for free. For now, I’m going to make it so they have to spend $10 to get the $5 off and anyone who uses their own code will just be removed from the affiliate program. Just trying to plan ahead for something that could potentially be a headache for me.

I don’t know what country you are in so my advice may not apply to you, but legally; just like a physical store, your eStore is considered “private property” and you are free to do business in whatever manner you see fit; including the right to refuse business, if a customer tries to pull a fast one. And you should add such (more polite) wording to that effect, in your terms and conditions.
