Paypal won’t accept credit card payments. I get the message:
The card you entered cannot be used for this payment. Please enter a different credit or debit card number
I have tried several credit cards which have NO connection to PayPal accounts. Always the same message. (It worked at one time and I can still pay through paypal.)
I’m sure you may feel this is a paypal issue (and it’s well documented around the web), but if there’s not a fix (and I can’t find one on the web), I can’t use your plugin. I’ll just have to go back to simple paypal generated buttons. That sucks but it works (used to anyway).
Hope you can help me out. Thanks.
July 10, 2012 at 11:30 pm #47151adminKeymasterYou are most likely using a credit card that PayPal is not accepting anymore. PayPal doesn’t accept all credit cards if they feel it might turn out to be a fraud (there are many other reasons why they may not accept a particular credit card). The simplest fix for this is to contact PayPal support and ask them about it.

I did talk to paypal and their web specialist thinks that everything is good on my end and the issue may be with their fraud detection/protection systems. That does not help. Paypal seems to work for every site in the world, except mine. So either something is configured wrong in eStore, or something is configured wrong with the buttons, or something is configured wrong with my paypal account. The paypal rep could not see a problem with the buttons or with my seller account. So I was hoping (perhaps against hope) that you might have encountered similar problems in the past, although I found nothing in the support forum.
I will call paypal again, then I guess I will remove eStore and try to make things work with simple buttons. If that works, I guess we’ve narrowed down the problem. I may have to e-mail the e-document by hand, but I can’t live with simple credit card transactions failing.
Thanks.
