Hello,
I’ve conducted a forum search for the answer to this but cannot find anything. Hopefully there is a workaround for this but I can’t figure it out
I am using PayPal as my payment gateway and here’s what I’m trying to do (if at all possible?)
I’m basically setting up a membership site and after adding the subscription button to my page, I login to my site as a customer and click the subscription button, I am then taken to paypal to make the subscription payment, but on the subscription page my shipping address is visible with a radio button highlighted next to it. So I have to check the alternative radio button that says shipping is not required for this item.
Now this is no trouble for me to do, however, speaking from many years of experience of dealing with the general public, unless they are spoon fed, I’m 100% confident that there will be individuals that will completely overlook this upon making their payment.
To simplify things (spoon feed if you like) I was wondering if there’s a way to NOT SHOW the physical shipping address with subscription type buttons in PayPal?
Is there possibly a workaround for this or is it a PayPal issue?
Look forward to your reply
August 30, 2012 at 12:55 pm #48830wzpModeratorSomeplace, there is a PayPal profile setting that allows you to disregard shipping addresses on digital goods or invoices of less than $4. However, it also comes with the caveat that it affects buyer/seller protection eligibility.
August 30, 2012 at 1:06 pm #48831mxmarkMemberHmmm, well my membership site will be more than $4 per month.
Since the paypal interface update, I can’t find anything in there to change this setting. Do you know where I can find this setting and is it still possible because I’m asking more than $4?
Alternatively, can I setup a ‘buy now button’ for a subscription membership instead of using a subscription button and would this eliminate the problem?
August 30, 2012 at 1:54 pm #48832wzpModeratorI’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed the PayPal interface change. I noticed that setting status, but couldn’t find the place to change it, LOL. I think, short of calling PayPal support, you’ll have to experiment.
August 30, 2012 at 3:37 pm #48833mxmarkMemberSo to reiterate, would it be feasible to use a ‘buy now button’ to handle subscriptions instead of a ‘subscription button’ to handle subscriptions? Is this possible?
I only ask because when a ‘buy now button’ is used instead of a ‘subscription button’ I am taken to the PayPal enhanced view and not the classic (old looking) view and the enhanced view doesn’t show the shipping address option where people have to select ‘No Shipping Required’?

August 31, 2012 at 5:36 am #48835adminKeymasterI have made a slight change to the eStore plugin so you should be able to not ask for shipping address on a subscription product checkout.
Please get a new build of the eStore plugin from here:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/update-request
Do the following after you update the plugin.
1) Edit your eStore subscription product
2) Go to the “Shipping & Tax” section of this product
3) Specify 0 in the “Item Shipping Cost” field of this product
Now, when anyone goes to purchase this subscription product, it won’t ask for the shipping address anymore on PayPal.

That’s done the trick, much appreciated.
