eStore PayPal not allowing payment from balance, only linked bank

Paypal is our payment processor. I have set up a subscription product following the video tutorials. When I tested it after getting sent to PayPal and logging in the option to pay from my linked bank account is checked and it’s the only option available. I’m setting up a new (not yet live) website and using eStore where this is happening. On the live Squarespace site which is also using Paypal non-subscription payments (there are no subscription payments set up) by default take the money from my Paypal balance but have the option to use my linked bank account.

What has to be done in order to fix this so the payment comes from my Paypal balance in the eStore subscription?

There is nothing in the plugin that decides how payments are funded from anyone’s PayPal account. With that said; you are not clear about:

• Whether or not you are using an account that is different, than the one being used to accept payments.

   

• Is the account being used to accept payments a “verified PayPal business” account?

   

• What country the accounts are associated with.

You might end up having to place a support call to PayPal.

* It’s my client account, I’m not sure if it’s a ‘verified Paypal business’ account, but since it’s the same account I would assume that it should work given that it’s working on my client’s live Squarespace site.

During a Standard paypal checkout, where the funding comes from for a transaction is not controlled by any plugin (PayPal doesn’t allow us to make any changes there even if we wanted to).

This is something that entirely depends on the setup of the buyer’s paypal account. You need to contact paypal to get clarification as to why the funding is coming from bank account for this particular account.

Hi admin,

I’m using the same Paypal account when I try to buy. One uses my Paypal balance by default, the other forces the money to come from my linked bank account.

@kez — you need to contact PayPal, to resolve this. I suspect that you are not allowed to “buy” something, using the same account that you are using to “sell” something.

The account selling is not my account. I’m only buying with my account.

Using the same accounts this works on Squarespace, but not with eStore.

As @Admin and I previously stated; the plugin is unable to affect the behavior of PayPal. The only way you’re going to get this fixed, is to get PayPal’s involvement.
