Tagged: default shipping cost, estore
Greetings,
I have set up a “base shipping cost” of $7 in the general settings area of the eStore admin. In each product set-up I have put 0.001 in the “Item Shipping Cost” field in the shipping and tax area. This has been working fine for over a year.
My question is, how do I override the default for a specific product? On occasion I fill a special order that has a shipping cost of $25. I changed the 0.001 in the Item Shipping Cost field to $25 but instead of charging $25, the shipping cost was $32 ($25+7).
The only way I could figure out how to get the answer I wanted was to put the special order shipping cost in at $18. I got the result I wanted ($25 shipping) but I know there must be a better way to accomplish this.
Thank you for your help.

The base shipping will be charged whenever the shipping is triggered. There is no way to turn this off for one product. The best way to do this is the way you are already doing it.
$18 specified in the Product shipping + $7.00 base shipping.
Note when this is sent to PayPal it is sent as $25.00 (this is the total shipping).
Thank you Ivy!
