Hello,
Thanks for helping me as you have always in the past. Please know I appreciate it coming from a not technical person. Thanks again and here is what has been happening over the last few days.
I am using WP version 3.8.3.
Here is my products page
[http://www.tinasdynamichomeschoolplus.com/shop/]
It is the product entitled “Academic Calendar – 2 Pages Per Month. Color.” which is about halfway down that my customers are not receiving.
My customers complaint is that after payment they never received the download link and are getting a 404 error.
Incidentally too, I wasn’t notified at my other email using the “Notification Email Address”.
April 16, 2014 at 2:35 pm #62272wzpModeratorIf they do not get the download link, how are they getting the 404 error?
Have you actually witnessed this problem? If so, can you tell us how you get the 404 error, without getting the download link?
And is the problem only limited to one specific product?
April 16, 2014 at 2:43 pm #62273TinaTxMemberSuch a quick response! Thank you!!
My audience is not really technical people either so I am thinking they back clicked because here is what one actually said. You don’t “come back to the download link”, you get it sent to you.
“Subject:: Shopping Cart 404 Error
Comment: I purchased and paid for the Rainbow Curriculum Planner cover, but after the Paypal side of things, I came back to get the download link, but just get the “404 Error.” Please send a link to download the beautiful rainbow cover!
Thanks,
Ginger”
Originally, the problem was just to this product so I “rode it out” meaning waited to contact you until I see if it get work itself out from April 6, because the other products sold okay.
Now this morning somebody bought something else and they did not receive their product. Here is the email I just received.
“I have not received an email for the instant downloads, and I can’t find them on the website. I don’t know if I am missing something on your site. Please help! Look forward to soaking up all your wisdom!”
So No, it is not limited to one product now.
April 16, 2014 at 8:39 pm #62274wzpModeratorWe need to narrow down the issue. Please goto the Admin Functions menu and then manually generate a download link for some of your products. Copy and paste the generated link into your browser’s address bar. Does the product actually download?
April 16, 2014 at 9:49 pm #62275TinaTxMemberThank you. And yes, it generated a link and I copy/pasted that in my browser and the document opened.
Thank you.
April 16, 2014 at 11:20 pm #62276wzpModeratorOkay, so we know there is nothing wrong with the download links.
If you were to make a purchase, do you get an email, containg the links? Do it from a computer you normally don’t use, to access your site.
April 17, 2014 at 1:32 am #62277TinaTxMemberHi :o)
Yes i had thought of that prior, but even if I do it from a different computer, I can’t complete the sale because paypal tells me I’m logging into the account of the seller and it won’t complete the transaction.
That was the problem from my customers (not receiving the link). They told me they did not receive a link.
April 17, 2014 at 2:07 am #62278wzpModeratorOkay, so you are saying the PayPal transaction goes through, but no email is received? Please check the ipn_handle_debug.log file.
You can always test the checkout process by using an email account, other than the one tied to the seller account.
April 17, 2014 at 2:21 am #62279TinaTxMemberYes that is correct, paypal goes through, but my customers say they never receive links.
I am not sure what I am checking on that log file :o) I have a friend that is going to test it for me because all my emails are tied to my one paypal account.
But here is the that log file. What am I looking for? Thank you so much!

April 17, 2014 at 4:08 am #62280adminKeymasterThe plugin seems to be working fine. Emails are definitely being sent from the plugin. The following two lines from the debug data is the confirmation:
[04/16/2014 3:44 AM] – SUCCESS :Product Email successfully sent to [terrihardin@gmail.com]
It is likely that you have some email issue on your server. Please go through the following checklist:
Also, are you using a specific thank you page for your products? If you are, then make sure that those URLs are still valid (meaning you haven’t changed them).
April 17, 2014 at 2:55 pm #62281TinaTxMemberThank you so much. I just wanted to follow up with you since I know there are other people like me, (maybe not the majority..lol) that love yahoo and have used them for YEARS and no I have never been hacked, but my email passwords looks like a line of coding..lol..
But I used the test email plugin like you recommended and worked like a charm. The problem was a yahoo email. Over the last weekend Yahoo changed something called Yahoo’s DMARC policy change so it must have affected me too. When I tested my email, it received it only one out of the 5 times I sent it.
I have set up a verified email from my blog and stopped using the yahoo email to send products and for my contact form.
So that I don’t have to give up the ease of use of my yahoo. I also set up a forward on my verified email associated with my blog so that I can answer from yahoo if I choose to.
Thank you for your help in helping me troubleshoot. I hope this makes sense from Not Technical Tina in Texas..lol
Y’all are always so timely and so very helpful!
Gratefully and have a great day!
April 17, 2014 at 3:21 pm #62282wzpModeratorWhat about the “mysterious 404 error?”
April 18, 2014 at 10:51 am #62283TinaTxMemberAbout the 404 error, I think they tried to backspace looking for the document after the sale
