Hello,
I hope that someone here can help me out. I sell digital items. All my customer’s have to register in order to make a purchase (I use eMember plugin).
My customers will usually download the item after purchase once or twice, and I also have PDT enabled. In my settings I allow for 48hr link time limit, and download up to 2 times limit.
I have a situation where I need to update my digital item and all my registered members who purchased the item will be able to get the update by the download link generated through this shortcode [wp_eStore_members_purchase_history_with_download].
I would like to know if I can set a limit of number of downloads using that shortcode above (1 time download only).
Please advise.
Thanks

I just did a test where the clicking of “Generate download link” button does limit the amount of times the file can be downloaded. But, if I go back and click the button again, the whole process starts. This means that a member can download countless times by always generating new download links. If there is a way to bypass this I will appreciate any info to modify this.
From what you are saying, the generated links are in fact limited to one use, but what you are trying to do is limit the number of times they can actually generate a new link?
If that is the case; how is allowing the user the ability to request multiple expiring links different than allowing the same user to make multiple copies of the file after the file has been downloaded?
Because the link expires after it is used, the value of creating links and passing them around is less than passing around the actual file.
Tips & Tricks does not limit the number of times you can use the automated Update Request page, but I’m sure we’d notice if you used it a few hundred times a week
