eStore – limit purchase of product to just one

Is it possible to configure a product so that it may be purchased just once?

We would like to do this so that a customer can purchase an inexpensive sample the first time, but after that they have to pay regular price.

I figured have one product with the lower price — let them buy it once.

Then have the regular item be a separate product.

Or, maybe there is a way to do this with the same product.

I’m not asking for you to customize anything. I’m just wondering if this feature is possible and I just missed it in the documentation. I spent a few hours looking and did not notice it.

Yes, you should be able to do this. Edit the sample product in question and go to the “Inventory Control” section. You can specify the limit in the “Quantity Limit Per Customer” field.
