I need to customize the auto receipts that both I and the user receive after a purchase.
For my auto receipt, I specifically need to customize:
– Merchant name
– Description/Name of product purchased
For the auto receipt that the user receives, I specifically need to customize:
– Description/Name of product purchased
– Merchant contact information
– Change the name of the email sender from “Auto Receipt” to My Company name
December 16, 2015 at 6:16 pm #72109wzpModeratorThose “receipts” come from the payment processor (PayPal, et al). Usually, depending upon the kind of merchant account you have, the level of customization varies. For instance; if you have an unverified, PayPal Standard account; there is no option for changing anything. At the other extreme; if you have a PayPal Payments Pro account, and are using the Payment Gateway Bundle addon; you can practically change anything.
December 16, 2015 at 10:27 pm #72110royhenigMemberhow do i export the receipts for my tax report?
can i do it with excel?
December 17, 2015 at 12:05 am #72111adminKeymasterPayPal lets you export all your transaction data. Log into your PayPal account then export the transaction data in CSV format.
December 17, 2015 at 12:27 am #72112royhenigMemberin paypal i see the transactions, but these are not receipts.
If my e store creates receipts for my clients, i should transfer the same receipts (or even better – an excel with the serial number of the receipts to my accountant.
otherwise it’s simply illegal…
December 17, 2015 at 4:02 am #72113adminKeymasterHi, We can definitely add an option in the receipt creator plugin to export all the “issued receipt” data to a CSV/Excel file. You can also export those data right now directly from the Database.
However, I think you have some misunderstanding when you say “simply illegal”, I will explain more…
You (the merchant) shouldn’t need receipts of your product sales for accounting purpose. Receipts are for your customers. You only need to give all the sales data to your accountant. The transaction ID of each transaction uniquely refers to a transaction (so it can be verified if needed). All the receipts also include the transaction ID.
Couple of examples to explain my argument:
#1) Remember that millions of people are selling online via standard PayPal button (there are no receipts for those). So how are they doing their accounting? Are you implying that all those people are exercising illegal practice? How would PayPal be able to offer this service if it was illegal?
#2) We use a cloud accounting platform (which directly gets all the sales data from our PayPal account). There are a few good accounting platforms that all do the same thing. None of them require you (the merchant) to have receipts of your product sales. These accounting platforms are also used by millions. In the future more and more businesses will shift to using these could accounting platforms.
Did I misunderstood your comment about “simply illegal”? My comment mainly take into account the following countries so I could be wrong if your country has a different accounting rule:
US, UK, Canada, Australia
December 17, 2015 at 10:42 am #72114royhenigMemberthank you for your answer.
first of all, adding the option to export receipts would be great and solve the issue totally.
i guess what you wrote is right, but as accounting is the grayer part of business, i believe it should be as simple and straight forward as it can. needing to write additional receipts out of all the transactions, which will be different from the receipts the customers get, is an unnecessary work and an invitation for trouble at many ends.
in conclusion – please develop the exporting option
thanks alot
December 18, 2015 at 11:31 pm #72115adminKeymasterI have added the option to export the receipt entries from the “Issued Receipts” tab. You can now download the new version of the addon and use it.
December 19, 2015 at 8:56 pm #72116royhenigMemberThank you very much!
Big LIKE!
December 19, 2015 at 9:10 pm #72117royhenigMemberAfter i installed the improved addon, i’ll ask for another improvement:
it would be great if we could export a csv excel file of the receipts that were created between specified dates, which will correspond to the month/s we need to report.
then this addon will be perfect!
Thanks again.
December 22, 2015 at 1:23 am #72118adminKeymasterThe latest entries will be at the top of the file. So can just copy the entries you need then discard the rest. you can do it with just a few clicks in excel.
Also, you can export those data directly from the database using all kinds of filtering options via PHPMyAdmin. The following video will teach you the basics of it:
I am trying not do too much interface work for this item. If a lot of people ask for this same thing then we would definitely take a look at doing something there.
December 22, 2015 at 9:04 am #72119royhenigMemberok. thanks.
