eStore – I need to add to cart from a list box -product variation for serial no.

I just installed eStore for my wordpress site, and I am selling entirely digital downloads in the form of serial numbers. I need to add product variation so that 4 slightly different options can chosen from on “item”. With tangible goods this is very straightforward, but I am selling serial numbers and I cannot add 4 different “pools” of numbers. There is only one list of serials per item.

As a result I made four separate items, instead of one item with four choices. This is fine on the back end, but I want it to APPEAR as one item to my customers.

How do I add <select><option>… into the add to cart form to replace the

<input type=”hidden” name=”item_number” value=”13″ /> in the item form?

I apologize if this is basic, I am just getting started with wordpress / php.
