Tagged: email
I’ve installed the eStore plugin on a website.
I’ve tested several times. The first time, I used a text e-mail. My thinking was “what the heck, it doesn’t have to be pretty, just functional.”
Even though it was plain text, the spacing between paragraphs was doubled. So i decided to use HTML instead.
The first time, I used only <p></p> in the HTML inside the text and spacing between paragraphs was still doubled.
When I use only
to separate the inner paragraphs, there is no spacing at all.
I now have a mixture of
and <p></p> in the HTML inside the text. The places where the
is used, the text appears OK. But between the paragraphs separated normally, there is still double spacing.
An e-mail like this looks unprofessional.
Am I missing something? Is there a tweak that I haven’t found yet?
I can send you a copy of the e-mail I am now getting.
Thanks.
Hi, There is likely an issue with the autop (auto paragraph) function on this site.
Do you see the same behaviour when you use the post/page editor? can you please switch to a default WordPress theme (example: twenty twelve) and see if it changes (some themes can messup the autop)?
Did you try switching to the text view and making sure there are not extra paragraphs or linebreaks?
I am sorry but this is a live site and I cannot change to one of the other themes.
And, yes, I did look at the content of the e-mail in text view. There is not any extraneous linebreaks. Sorry.
Its fine that it is a live site. You can do that test at a quiet time (when the traffic is low on the sie). It takes only a few minutes, so you switch the theme and then check how the emails work and then switch it right back. You won’t lose any value or setup on your site (everything will be back to how it was).
Actually, you should do the plugin test mentioned here first (before you do the theme test):

One of the plugins could be causing this autop issue too.
