I would like to list all my products from category “footwear” showing just the image thumbnails/price.

You can display a list of all products from a particular category using any of the available fancy product display templates. The following post will show you how:

You can list the products then hide some parts (that you don’t want to show) using CSS.

Also, if you don’t want to show the purchase buttons then you actually don’t need to use any shortcode from the cart plugin. You can simply use a table in your WP post/page to display images and link them to whatever page you like.
