I tried using the following shortcodes in my eStore for a product that I am giving away for free.
[wp_eStore_download_now_button_fancy_no_price id=1]
[wp_eStore_download_now_button_fancy id=1]
[wp_eStore_download_now_button id=1]
But whenever I hit the download button, I get the following error message in my browser.
“The secure download manager ran into a problem that it couldn’t handle, and is unable to process your download request.
The problem was due to the following reason:
The download link (see browser address bar) has expired (it’s too old). If you think this reason is in error, please contact the site administrator.”
Here is the link.

This error means the download link has expired.
Did you put the direct link in the eStore download URL for the product?
Also in the eStore settings did you set a time limit for the “Duration of Download Link”?
Hello Ivy,
Thanks. I did have a time limit set for the duration of a download link. So, I extended it, and it works. So my question is this.
Is there a way to take a specific product (like one that you are offering free) and allow it to be downloaded for an infinite number and period of time? Because otherwise it seems that I would have to reload this product every time someone downloads it.
When using the download_now buttons, a new link is created for each click; therefore the links effectively do not expire.
Download expiry limits are set on a global basis. For purchased links, you can setup a self-service page, similar to the Tips & Tricks automatic update request page:
