Hi,
I’ve just been working on installing WP eStore on a client’s site and I have to say that you guys absolutely ROCK! The new addons for the Order Management will really help – not had a chance to play with it just yet but it looks very promising indeed… So many new features, I should update my own site!
Anyway, the one feature request that my client hopes you may consider is simply a checkbox (similar to the Terms & Conditions) on the cart where people can choose whether or not they want to opt-into the mailing list (if one has been specified). (I quite like the idea too!).
e.g. [/] Do you want to join our mailing list
…I suppose an option in the settings screen to have this either enabled or disabled by default would also be useful.
Quite a few shopping carts have this feature (big brands) – data privacy and enabling customers to have choice in what they want is essential.
Anyway, keep up the great work (as usual). It’s alway appreciated.
Cheers,
Zain

February 23, 2013 at 12:23 am #46519adminKeymasterHi Seb, You have probably noticed that we designed our cart to have no input required for the customer when checking out (this helps with your sale conversion). Less stuff the customer have to do the better it is for your conversion (otherwise you get higher cart abandonment).
This is why we are usually reluctant to add stuff in the cart checkout that requires the customer to do something at the time of checkout. If a lot of users ask for it then we will add a feature for this as usual:
With that said, the double opt-in feature kind of gives your this functionality anyway. After the checkout, if your customer doesn’t want to be signed up they can simply ignore the “Signup Confirmation” email. You could even put some sort of a message in your checkout page telling them about it (if you want).

I understand your concerns with this, but I think a simple checkbox is not too complicated for a customer to handle. I’m actually quite used to this feature myself from sites where I shop.
Yes, it would work with the double opt-in mails but I don’t want to spam my customers with too many emails. Especially if they don’t want them…
Anyway, I can do with a workaround for now, but would like to raise my hand for an implementation in the future.
Thanks again!
Seb
March 24, 2013 at 7:18 pm #46521RaechelHendersonMemberI’d like to throw in my request for this as well. I’d love to be able to allow customers to sign up for our mailing list as they’re checking out.

March 3, 2014 at 9:46 pm #46523wzpModeratorYou may add it to the eStore “Wish List” and it will be considered, as priorities permit:

Or, you can request a custom work order quote, and someone will get back to you:
