Tagged: Product Link email
I set the website (dogtrainingvideo.biz)up almost a year ago. We only had one video for download at the time. I thought everything was working as I expected but then the project was put on hold. Just getting around to adding more products. During a test I discovered that the email being received from the customer with the product link could be forwarded on someone else. Any person receiving a copy of the email has access to the digital product as well.
Have you enabled download count or time expiration limits?
The product is set up …

WP estore settings –

Random Code AZ#Ui$335UBSD)AminOc32j90
Duration of Download Link 72 Hours
Download limit count 999
Set your download limit counter to “1” which will make it to where the encrypted link can be used only once within that 72 hour period. Read the help text below each field which explains what it does. Different users want different level of security so adjust your settings based on what you want.
I can do that to test it but that’s not what the owner of the website wants. Ideally, they would have access to make to the video as much as they want within the 3 day period. It’s something that the client would have to review more than once.
I tested it and the email link only let me download it once. I just forwarded the email to someone else to see if they could use the link. Waiting for response.
Use a download count that is reasonable, for a 72 hour period; like 100. During those 72 hours, the file can be downloaded up to 100 times.
And yes, it does mean the link can be forwarded and copied, but only used within those limits.
eStore doesn’t distinguish between users. You can’t be user specific you are not maintaining a user login system. If you want to give user specific access then you will need to look at a membership plugin. A membership plugin has user access control and can allow the restriction of content based on the user’s profile.
Thank you for your help.
