Hi, I wonder if you can help me please?
I’ve been asked if I can make the Payment process clearer as in what someone with little or no online shopping experience should do once they’ve added something to the cart (as a number of our ‘offline’ members are).
With this in mind I would like to provide a little more information, either to the ‘Payment Method’ before the selection box or, preferably, a line of text above this that says something like “Please check that the item in your shopping basket is correct then select the payment method you wish to use from the drop down box below”
The site in question is: hymnsocietygbi.org.uk/membership-costs/
I’m happy to alter the css or add something in the php.
Thanks for your help.
It “sounds like” what you are wanting is to provide some kind of online “hand holding” for your users, who are unfamiliar with online shopping. Is this correct?
Thanks for getting back to me, much appreciated.
Yes, that’s correct. Most visitors are familiar with the shopping cart but I have had a few recently who have been confused by the process.
You can create a video with instructions if you want to.
I just checked your setup and I feel the following changes should be useful for you (given what you are selling):
1) Have a specific checkout page and redirect the customers to that page when they add an item to the cart. The following page has instructions on how to do it:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/how-to-create-a-specific-checkout-page-for-estore
This way, they click an add to cart button and then they are at the shopping cart with the checkout button right in-front of them so they instantly know what to do next.
2) Turn off the email confirmation step on the registration form. If you start to have an issue with it then we can revisit this but for now I don’t feel you need it.
Those changes will streamline the process.
Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll add the checkout page and try turning off the email confirmation.
