I currently have a page that gives customers music downloads, with the option to either name their own price or get the downloads for free. If they enter a price, their order is processed via the PayPal gateway. If they do not specify a price, they are directed through the Squeeze page.
It works beautifully, but I would love to streamline the process even further.
Ideally, I would like a customer to be able to do the following:
1. Select the downloads they want and add them to their cart, without having to specify an amount for each one.
2. At checkout, be given a squeeze page with the option to pay one lump sum as a donation.
3. If they enter an amount, they would be processed normally via the PayPal gateway.
4. If they choose not to enter an amount, they would still enter their name and email address and receive an email with their downloads.
The obvious solution seems to be to just add a PayPal “Donate” button to the existing squeeze page. But I fear this would disrupt the eStore download-delivery process.
I’m not even sure if any of this is possible in eStore. But I would love to hear any suggestions for possible solutions.
Thanks.
July 18, 2012 at 12:18 am #47405adminKeymasterYou can use option 1 explained at the following post:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/selling-items-for-00-giving-product-for-free
So the visitors will still specify an amount and add to the cart however they can just specify $0.00 for items. If all the items they have added in the cart are $0.00 then they just checkout via the manual checkout option and gets the items for free (given you have enabled this option). When they do the manual checkout you still get the details of the customer just like you would for a squeeze form submission.
This way the customer is always adding items to the cart then either checking out via PayPal to pay or checking out via Manual checkout for free (I think that will give you the streamlining you are looking for).

However, what I’m trying to do is make it so that, on a page with a list of many songs, the customer does not have to enter an amount for each song they select. Instead, they can add their selections to the cart and then, at checkout, enter one amount (or none at all.) In other words, eliminating the multiple price boxes beside each “Add to Cart” button, and instead including a single name-your-price box or button at checkout.
Here’s my idea: Editing the manual-checkout page so that it includes an optional PayPal “donate” button. The customer would still be required to enter a name and email.
If they choose to ignore the donation, the manual checkout would still be processed normally. But if they select the “donate” button, they would be directed to a PayPal donation page, and then, after payment, be redirected back to whatever eStore element is responsible for delivering the downloads they ordered.
Is this possible?
