Alas, sharing a link to the page isn’t possible as I’ve had to disable this page so as to allow the rest of my site to be used.
The steps I’ve taken
(1) clear cookies and cache after making the change
(2) downloaded and installed a fresh version of eStore
(3) tried a transaction
(4) message I got this time was
“We cannot process this transaction because there is a problem with the PayPal email address supplied by the seller. Please contact the seller to resolve the problem. If this payment is for an eBay listing, you can contact the seller via the “Ask Seller a Question” link on the listing page. When you have the correct email address, payment can be made at paypal.com.
The email address I can’t delete is no longer the email I use for paypal but as usual with the reinstall of the plugin the previous details were retained, so the email address is still showing.
Where to now?
January 14, 2015 at 7:49 am #46922stellapolarisMemberSo: just to clarify – there is still a problem with Paypal being recognised as the payment gateway even though I unchecked that option.
January 14, 2015 at 1:01 pm #46923wzpModeratorI’m having the same issue – I only use Stripe as a payment gateway, having previously used paypal via the simple Paypal but making the obvious changes.
Out of curiosity, what kind of button; Add To Cart, Buy Now, etc. are you using? And what shortcode are you using to create the button?
Have you edited the product itself to make sure you didn’t specify an email address in the product configuration?
All you have to do is create a test page then put the shortcode there to create the button so we can inspect it.
January 15, 2015 at 4:10 am #46924stellapolarisMemberI used the shortcodes that come with the product and didn’t modify them. It is a buy now button. I don’t see why the button type would explain why paypal is acting as the payment gateway.
IN terms of product configuration – if the relevant product is ‘eStore’ you need to specify an email address for the relevant emails to be sent to a purchaser under the email settings in eStore. Why that would trigger the paypal option isn’t immediately apparent to me although it is the same email address for my paypal account.
I can’t see where you could put an email in the product configuration for an individual item for sale as the emails are driven from the email settings tab?
I’ve created a test page – https://subscriber.theexecutiveremunerationreporter.com.au/test-page
January 15, 2015 at 4:39 am #46925stellapolarisMemberthe test page has an add to cart and a buy now button.
When I try with an add to cart button it takes me to the stripe collect details page. No T&C showing up. I need the purchaser to review the T&C before purchase and tick they have.
This relates to another conversation I’ve got going on this forum – if I used ‘buy now’ I get the paypal payment gateway even though I have not selected it. If I use the add to cart button I get the Stripe collect details but no must read T&C before purchase.
I used to use add to cart for paypal when I used it and it always showed the T&C to be checked.
January 15, 2015 at 4:48 am #46926stellapolarisMemberOkay – so I’ve gone back and reconfigured to specify the checkout page (and not the collect details page) in the checkout page settings and now add to cart will take me to a page where I need to select T&C to purchase and then I’m taken to the collect details for Stripe.
SO: if I used ‘add to cart’, stripe will show up. Problem sorted.
Why won’t this work for buy now?

Why won’t this work for buy now?
Because historically, “Buy Now” buttons were a PayPal only feature. However, using a different shortcode, it is possible to create “gateway specific” Buy Now buttons:

That is why we sometimes ask what shortcodes you are using.
Frivolous Legal Trivia: In the United States, eBay (owner of PayPal) owns a copyright on buttons with the words “Buy Now.” The last known public enforcement, which ended in eBay’s favor, was in 2007.
