Tagged: Billing Address, checkout, PayPal
Hi,
I have a button in eStore to pay for a membership access. When the user is sent to PayPal, he has to fill in a form in which postal address (street, city, zip) fields are mandatory. I would like only the email to be mandatory. Is there a way to control this from the mechanism in eStore that sends the user to PayPal or is it strictly required by PayPal itself? Selling a membership should only require email info + credit card, not the postal address.
Thank you
Is PayPal asking for a “Billing Address?” If that is so, it is required by PayPal.
You should be able to make it so that a postal address is not required for digital item checkout only. The following post should help:
Enter 0 in the individual product’s shipping amount area to flag an item as digital item.
Ok, thank you for your answer. I didn’t know PayPal made it mandatory to collect the postal address when billing on credit cards. This is a drawback for the PayPal solution that I wasn’t aware of before. Thank you for your answer.
Every credit card processing solution (at least in the US) requires the billing address be collected, as a fraud prevention measure.
