Hi,
Been using the plugin for a while now, and also used the different variations to good effect (different colours, sizes, postal regions, etc.)
However, came across a requirement to capture measurements, and wondering if someone (or an addon) has worked out a way to pull these into the display price?
For example – product could be something like a bespoke size picture frame, or wall murals, or custom length wood, etc.
eStore would capture the measurements from the customer – possibly using variations to show a drop-down box for length and drop down box for width – or is there a way to capture that in free form text?
And then – importantly – to somehow use those captured measurements to quote the price.
Any pointers or ideas on this one?
I’m guessing that SOMEONE has had to face a product with a very customisable size (e.g. 4.3metres x 2.9metres) rather than simple variations like small/medium/large.
Any ideas on best way to handle this within eStore, or is there a cool addon/plugin/extra that I should investigate for such a situation?
Many thanks for any guidance/pointers you can provide,
Richard

You could probably have one variation for the length with different prices and then another one for width with different prices. Then depending on what the customer picks, the price changes.
Read the full variation control documentation to learn more:
Essentially, you will need to try a couple of different combination to see if it works for you.

Yes, that was my initial thoughts.
I could work out each possible measurement and just have them listed inside one variation control (for example – “1mx1m=$30”, “1mx2m=$60” and so on).
That example uses simple addition logic to increase with each measurement option.
But then it got me wondering – if there were a tonne of available measurements (1×1, 1×1.2, 1×1.3 and so on) would there be a way to use 2 variation controls and have the price calculated?
So, I created 2 controls – 1 for width and 1 for height.
But as you can imagine, if you follow through on that logic, the price won’t be right as it needs to multiple the measurements rather than simply add the measurements.
Am I trying to find something in eStore that’s a bit of a stretch?
Can it simply not handle multiplying 2 variations together to quote a price?
Is my only option to ditch that hope, and simply build one variation control with a huge list of available calculated sizes?
Thanks
