eStore and Markdown aren't playing nice

Does anyone have any info on why Markdown (HTML plugin that converts plain text and symbols into HTML) won’t work with eStore?

I think the brackets are used by Markdown to display italics, and therefore don’t display the shortcode that converts to a product add to cart feature.

The brackets like the following are used by WordPress shortcode (this is how WordPress filters shortcode from the content):

[]

If a plugin converts those into something else then no WordPress shortcode will work.
