I have been setting up my plugin to work with Amazon S3 and I have been following the tutorials here:
My question is about setting the permissions. When I set my permissions to everyone and leave all the boxes blank like the screenshot shows the permissions don’t hold. I need to check one of these boxes in order for it to save these changes. However, according to the text by doing that I am making the file public.
Can you clarify for me what the settings should be?
Thanks!
May 29, 2014 at 3:10 am #63381wzpModeratorWhen you upload a file to your amazon S3 account, you should make it private (not public). If you make a file private, then no one can download that file other than going via the encrypted link eStore creates after a purchase.
Not checking any of the boxes, makes it “private.”
May 29, 2014 at 6:35 pm #63382jk28147MemberI’m having a few questions to this?
I created 5 level Mbrship site 1 free 2,3,4 paid levels of coaching with video training and 5 will be a turnkey program with full access levels…
1.my video files are stored in aws3 is there a way to display the videos without clients get access to the download file….maybe even host them in aws3?
2.would it be better to create a seperate membership site for each level or could I just use one and restrict access to sessions…(that could also create teaser content for upgrade options)?

- If you use the native eStore Amazon S3 integration, they can download the files, but not directly access them:
- If you only want them to view the videos, and not even download them, use our Lightbox Ultimate plugin:

You would create individual membership levels, and then restrict content to the appropriate levels. Please see the “Content Protection” section in the eMember documentation:
May 29, 2014 at 7:38 pm #63384jk28147MemberI was planing on using Lightbox Ultimate to display and found answers on that
in the e-member I created the separate levels my question is if I could let all of them use the same Member access page just with different level of access instead of creating a member access page for each level
Like:
one member room with all access links, access itself will be restricted through access rights during post/page creation
level A access: beginner training
level B access: beginner + advanced training
level C access: beginner + advanced + pro training
on that way if level A tries to access B or C he will get asked to upgrade

one more thing: is there a way to get (export) all the links from s3 at once to copy and paste?…I have hundreds of files

Yes, use a single page with section protected content:

If you are using Lightbox Ultimate, you need to create a shortcode for each video. You might be able to copy/paste all of your bucket links into a text file, and then use a quick and dirty BASIC program to create the corresponding shortcodes for you.
May 31, 2014 at 6:48 pm #63386jmwalker11ParticipantThe problem is that it doesn’t hold the ‘everyone’ option if i don’t select one of the boxes. As soon as I save it, navigate to another page and come back the only permissions that are there are mine. The everyone option has disappeared.
May 31, 2014 at 11:05 pm #63387wzpModeratorIf you don’t select any of the boxes, the implication is that “Everyone” has no permissions. Therefore, clicking “Save” under such circumstances is equivalent to just deleting the permissions for “Everyone.” Does that make sense?
June 11, 2014 at 4:56 pm #63388jmwalker11ParticipantNot really. My question is then what boxes do I check to keep the everyone option available but also keep it private? I am trying to follow the tutorial here: http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/amazon-web-services-simple-storage-service-aws-s3-integration-1101 but it doesn’t work to not select anyboxes because then the Everyone Grantee disappears.
June 11, 2014 at 11:17 pm #63389wzpModeratorWhen no boxes are checked, “Everyone” has no access, so it’s the same thing as not showing any permissions for “Everyone,” therefore it’s “Private.”
It’s “Amazonian logic.” If you need more assistance understanding how amazon s3 permissions work, please visit the AWS support forum:
June 12, 2014 at 12:17 am #63390adminKeymasterYou can’t have a file public and private at the same time. You either make it a private file or a public file.
This is what you you should do:
1) Upload a file to your amazon S3 account
2) Make it private (meaning everyone access will be off for this file).
3) Then do what the following documentation says to configure this file with eStore:
estore will take care of the rest. When a customer purchase this product, estore will let that customer download this file.
