Tagged: av chat, chat error, standard WP
Hello, I’m getting an error with free and paid members not being allowed to
enter my avchat plugin despite the permissions being correct and has been caused by the *WP eMember *plugin which is killing the SESSION variables for visitors when going to the chat page*, according to the avchat developers.
So what happens is when they go to the JV Chat & Court Cams page a box shows up which states “You need to upgrade to a higher user level to access this page” with a “Go to the Sign In Page button. Once the button is pressed, it redirects them to the standard WP registration page, which is a MAJOR issue, I do not want my paying members to register for the standard WP, that’s why I purchased Emember. I want to protect and reserve that page using emember only for my Highly Motivated membership level.
I have tried all types of variables to get it to act right but no luck. It worked once so I know it works, but it stopped working.

Hi, The membership plugin doesn’t actually start a SESSION. So I can’t see how it can kill the session. Can you please share a link to this avchat plugin page so I can check it.
How did you create this “Go to the Sign In Page” button? Did you check where it links to? eMember sends a user to a page that you specify in the following area of eMember settings:
WP eMember Settings -> Pages/Forms Settings -> Registration Page
So check that field to make sure you didn’t enter a wrong URL.
I also noticed that you have a few JavaScript errors on your site. You should fix those as those errors can contribute to other weird behaviors. The following post has info on how you can fix javascript errors:
