Hi, I’ve been having an error since I installed WP PDF Stamper about a month ago, and only now (after getting a developer to look into it) do I know what the problem is. About half my customers would email me saying they couldn’t download their file from the WooCommerce purchase email, they’d just be taken to the home page or somewhere else on my site. I’m not getting an error message, and neither are the customers — they’re just not able to get to their files. The developer had a look and tested the system, and he said there’s a file permission issue when customers use guest checkout. So the PDF stamper isn’t working (or is somehow stalling) their access to the file when customers aren’t logged in. If they forward me their purchase email I can download their files no problem, it’s just they cannot access them themselves when they click the PDF link in the email. Is there anything I can do with the settings, or add CSS or some code to the plugin so it works the same whether the customer is logged in or out? I don’t want to make all customers create an account and be logged in to purchase, many of the purchases are one-offs under $10, so that will deter my customers from shopping. I need my PDFs stamped as they are patterns and can be easily reuploaded to sharing sites. I’m using WC version 3.2.6, and customers pay either via PayPal Express or Stripe.
Thanks very much for your help, appreciate it, other than this issue I really love the plugin.
January 18, 2018 at 10:25 pm #77128adminKeymasterPDF stamper doesn’t have anything that redirects the user to the homepage so this is a little strange. How is this other developer determining its the stamper plugin that is doing the redirect? Usually this type of issue (a user permission check then redirect) comes from a security or firewall type plugin.
Please do a test by temporarily deactivating all plugins except woocommerce and the stamper plugins. Then test the download link as a customer (download without being logged into the site). Then deactivate the stamper plugin and test the same download link. Do you see different behavior?
January 24, 2018 at 2:40 am #77129danabreeMemberHi, sorry about the delay, I thought I’d get an email saying there was a new response. My developer was able to replicate the issue, but when I tried I couldn’t (with and without the plugins turned off, while not logged in, etc). What I’ve done for now is just require that people be logged in to checkout. I hope I don’t lose any sales over it, but I just couldn’t take the chance that guests weren’t going to get their files. It wasn’t that the plugin was redirecting people to the home page, it was the WC email that was doing that (I’m assuming because there were errors with the file permissions due to the guest checkout). Have you ever heard of any issues regarding whether the customers were logged in or checking out as a guest?
January 25, 2018 at 12:47 am #77130adminKeymasterWe currently don’t have any issue with the stamper plugin and guest checkout. Leave the setup you have now and see how that goes.
