Error in WP Affiliate area setup

I have installed the login links onto a page using the simple method (Setting up the affiliate view/area – option 2 – on page affiliate area) with the code [wp_affiliate_view]

When I save as draft and then preview the page, it looks perfect. As soon as I publish the page and preview it, I get the following error message:

An Error Was Encountered

The URI You Submitted Has Disallowed Characters.

(that is URI not URL)

When I go to the site, it tells me the page can’t be found.

What have I done wrong?

When I try to go to the menu item labeled “Affiliates”, it sends me to the following page automatically and gives a 404 error:

..../affiliates/login/signup

Why is it doing that? It is most likely the work of another plugin. Please do the plugin test mentioned here:
