I wanted to reduce the size of the estore squeeze page addon and tried to edit the style from within the wordpress dashboard. The instruction was that I had to make the file writable as the changes would not be saved. I used the ftp resource to change the permissions for the Wp-admin and wp-contents as a whole as well as the estore-ssf-addon-style.css file. When I tried to refresh the site it was totally down. The theme Shell lite has been deactivated from the dashboard although the files still exist on the server. When I enter the url I get a white screen. When I try to access plugins from the wp-admin dashboard I get the error “The plugin estore-stylish-squeeze-form/estore-stylish-squeeze-form-addon.php has been deactivated due to an error: Plugin file does not exist.” The file is still visible on the server. Can anyone help in solving this issue? Thanks
June 27, 2013 at 1:00 am #56328wpCommerceModeratorHi, You don’t need to change the file permission of
wp-admin
andwp-content
folders. Please revert them back to755
for security (if you haven’t done so already). That should make your site functional again. As for the squeeze form addon, please delete it completely from your site and install a fresh copy. If you cannot remove it from the admin dashboard you can directly do it via FTP.
It’s always safe to edit any plugin file using a text editor on your computer and then upload it via FTP to your server (make sure to keep a backup). That way you can quickly overwrite the file if it causes any error.
June 27, 2013 at 1:01 am #56329adminKeymasterIf you have messed up the code of a an addon or plugin or theme, simply delete that plugin folder from your server by connecting via FTP and going to the “wp-content/plugins” directory. In case of a theme you will need to delete it from the “wp-content/themes” directory.
Then you should be able to re-download a fresh copy of the addon or plugin or theme and start your customization again.
WordPress will give you a white screen (empty screen) if you still have traces of wrong/bad code on your site. So make sure to remove everything that you touched/modified (if you don’t know where it is).
June 28, 2013 at 4:36 pm #56330alamarja59SpectatorThank you for your help so far. I have gotten the site back up but the wp e-commerce plugin is still not available. When I try to upload it i get the following error: “The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.” Most of the style and php files seem to be unwritable which is what I was trying to solve in the first place to edit the addon php. Any advice on how to get the wp ecommerce plugin reinstalled and activated?
June 29, 2013 at 12:45 am #56331adminKeymasterUsually the upload filesize limit is set to 2MB but looks like on this server that limit is way lower. Please ask your hosting provider what the upload file size limit is on this server. If it is less than 2MB then request them to change it to 2MB or above then try the plugin upload again.
July 2, 2013 at 10:50 am #56332alamarja59SpectatorOK. I have made some progress so far the site is back up and running. We installed WP e-commerce 3.8.11 from the plugin area as version 3.8.10 which was first installed was not available in the plugins area. My products are listed on the product page but short codes and stylish squeeze page from the addon dont work. One of the errors is that the product id does not exist. I have been searching the product details the store settings and manage products but can’t find product ids anywhere. However before the crash the product ids were visible and the short codes worked. Any ideas on where to find product ids in version 3.8.11?
July 3, 2013 at 2:10 am #56333adminKeymasterHi, The WP-ecommerce is actually a different plugin. Are you using WP eStore plugin or the wp-ecommerce plugin?
If you are using the WP eStore plugin, then you can download a fresh new copy from here:

The stylish squeeze form addon is an addon for the WP eStore plugin. So I just want to make sure that you have the eStore plugin installed and active.
July 4, 2013 at 9:52 am #56334alamarja59SpectatorThank you the matter is now resolved after uploading the estore plugin.
