I would like to upload some eBooks onto my self-hosted wordpress site http://www.simplygrainfree.com, site hosted with namecheap.com, to be able to sell using the eStore plugin. PDF’s work fine but I cannot upload ePubs and mobi file formats via the media library. I get the following error when I try “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.” I’ve since found out that ePubs and mobi files are not one of the standard allowed file formats in wordpress.
Few questions, is there a way around this in wordpress? Via a plugin or by adding some code if so where to?
It’s been mentioned on this forum to upload to the downloads directory of the eStore plugin, I can’t find where that is or how to do it.
Are there others suggestions on the best way to upload ePubs and mobi files onto my site?
Once I have the files up there will they be able to be sold and downloaded ok via eStore?
Thanks for any assistance.
Kate
Use a FTP program such as FileZilla to upload the file to your server. If you follow a tutorial on how to use FileZilla to upload a file to your server you should be set.
Thanks my son helped sort it out following this link, http://eschipul.com/2010/08/adding-ebook-epub-and-mobi-downloads-to-wordpress/ it works for anyone else having this issue.
