I run an online training company which sells wecasts tutorials. When a customer buys a tutorial, they receive an encrypted link for both the webcast, but also a pdf certificate +/- notes. I have set the limits to 48 hrs or 3 downloads, whichever is reached first. This has been working for several years without a hitch.
Due to the amount of server space we were using to store all of the webcasts, we have recently moved the majority of them onto AWS S3. To enable us to use this plugin, we had to upgrade our WP estore to the latest version. I have linked the products to the bucket in amazon and these are working fine. When a client clicks on the webcast link, they can view it three times before the message comes up saying that they have used the link too many times.
However, we are having frequent complaints from multiple users that the links to the certificates and/or notes, which are on the nromal server, are directing them to this message with their first click. Before upgrading, we had no problems at all.
I would be grateful of any solution
Thanks
Chris
Please enable the debug logs and see if anything strange is going on in the Download_Manager_Debug.log file. Also, it doesn’t hurt to move everything to Amazon S3. In fact, moving everything to Amazon S3 is better for your server (unless you use PDF Stamper).
Hi
I think i have found the solution. I had started to use the shortened url links with the new version of estore and I have just read a similar problem on the forum which was posted at about the same time as my request for help.
From what I can gather, the shortened links use up some the quota of clicks and this reduces the clicks available to the customer. I have increase the available clicks this seems to have worked.
I’ll come back if any further customers complain.
Many thanks for your time
Chris
