Hello
I open a new thread and try to be clearer in my ask (sorry english is not my native language). I read lots of threads whitout answer my questions.
Well i have 2 issues and i already check all options in emember settings (Automatically Create WordPress User, Preserve WordPress User Role…)
– When a user cancel his membership in paypal, the account is inactive, so the user is not able to access to the other informations available on his area (provide by others plugins or to simply see his buying history). Notice that it won’t kill the classic wordpress member access. Is it possible to let the access of the emember’s account on for the user who cancel his membership thrue paypal? or better solution, to retrograde him to free membership statue? It would be really great for my purpose.
– I am confused about one behaviour, if i create a new account thrue emember (it create in same time the wordpress user) and then i stay login for example one hour with no activity, wordpress will log out the emember’s access but let the wordpress user access login.
How can i manage to logout the both?
Thanks
September 18, 2013 at 3:52 pm #57808totalwebdesignMemberI had one more question
Let say my website sell two sort of services: premium content and a coaching service
I use a subscription button for the premium content and users pay each month with no expiry date.
And i use a subscription button (it’s tricky but this way clients can pay in 3 times or 6 times).
In a previous thread one of you told me that i can hide the subcription button of the coaching service (call partial protection and the user need to create a account first).
So starting with that informations, could you help me to achieve this:
A non register user want to buy a coaching service and want to pay in 3 times (using the subscription button) so he needs to create a free account first to achieve the payment thrue paypal (let say his email adresse for the free account is XXX@XXX.com and for his paypal is YYY@YYY.com)
10 days after this, the client (who is a bit dumb) enter the website, choose to don’t login and buy the premium content membership. He will enter his YYY@YYY.com paypal adresse as reference and emember will send an email to YYY@YYY.com to generate a new account right? But his email used to create his free emember account previously was XXX@XXX.com.
So at the end the user will have two accounts (due to his stupidity ok) but is there another way to solve this?
Like the system could send the email with the generated link but give the choice to create a new account or fuse this new membership with an account already created?
September 19, 2013 at 3:14 am #57809adminKeymasterFirst, lets make sure that you have all the options enabled for this. Example here:
Do you really want to give access to membership content when a user cancels his/her account? If you really want to allow them to be able to log in (after their account is expired), you can try using the “Allow Expired Account login” option from eMember’s settings. It won’t let them see protected content but allow them to log into the site as a member.
We are also working on an eMember addon that will automatically downgrade the membership of a user when the account is cancelled. You should be able to use this addon to set the user’s level to the “Free” one when they cancel their subscription.
Regarding the logout issue… are you using the following feature of eMember?
Logout the Member After XX Minutes
You can modify your registration scenario to cater for that issue you explained. Use the 2nd scenario explained in the documentation below and you won’t have that issue:

September 19, 2013 at 10:25 am #57810totalwebdesignMemberHello first of all, thank you for your answers, you provide really good support.
Yes as mention on your link, i have already check all these options.
1.Follow another thread i wanted to give the possibility to a user to use his membership time (month membership in my case) if he already paid the current month and choose to cancel it in middle time thrue paypal.
2. I already check “Allow Expired Account login” and i try this scenario with no luck:
As a demo user i baught a premium membership (in this exemple i set the options of the premium membership to “No Expiry or Until Cancelled “). Then i had cancel the recurring membership payment thrue paypal. But even with the option “allow expired account login” on, when i want to login into the demo account, it tell me this account is inactive.
Maybe i misunderstand something in the process? The user can access his account only if the membership is expired? not if he cancel his membership payment with paypal? but the only way to have an account expired in my case/example is to cancel manually the paypal payment right? Will it work if i put an “Expire After an Interval” in subscription duration option (like i mention in 1.)and even if an user cancel manually his reccuring payment thrue paypal during his membership?
3. Do you think your addon will be ready in less than one month? because my client want to lunch is website at the end of october ;-)it could be really nice feature in my case.
4. for the “Logout the Member After XX Minutes” in fact my problem is about the logout of wordpress system. Do you know how i can tell wordpress to logout a user in exemple after 2 hours? this way i can enter the same time in the emember options “logout the member after XX minutes.”
5. i will follow your scenario number 2 and tell you if it work in my case.
Anyway again thank you for your support
September 20, 2013 at 5:51 am #57811adminKeymasterI think what you are trying to do is let the user have access until the end of the time that day paid for. There is a way to do that in eMember.
Read the following post which should help you:
The following two posts should also be helpful:
yes, the addon I talked about should be ready before then but once you read the above mentioned posts, you probably won’t even need it.
September 20, 2013 at 10:00 am #57812totalwebdesignMemberThanks i will have a look at these links.
In fact i want the user have access until the end of the time that day paid for but also give the possibility to user after this time to acces his account even if he is not premium user, and that ‘s why your module can be good at this job.
Thanks i will come back if i still have troubles
September 20, 2013 at 10:26 am #57813totalwebdesignMemberthe account must not switch to inactive after the membership time period but downgrade into free account , this way customer can still have access to basic account forever and can renew his premium membership if he wants
September 20, 2013 at 11:57 pm #57814adminKeymasterokay no problem. The module should be ready in a week or two. So you can start using it then.
September 24, 2013 at 12:24 am #57815totalwebdesignMemberthank you sir, however is it possible to be notify when the module is ready?
THanks
RG
October 11, 2013 at 9:00 pm #57816totalwebdesignMemberHello admin, do you have any news about your plugin?
Thanks
October 11, 2013 at 11:43 pm #57817adminKeymasterThe development of the emember addon to auto downgrade account is complete. I have sent you a copy of it via email.
October 12, 2013 at 11:47 am #57818totalwebdesignMemberthanks you mister
October 17, 2013 at 11:42 pm #57819totalwebdesignMemberHello again
Thanks you for your addon however i have a strange behaviour after installing the update versoin of emember. I don’t know if it’s come from this change especially.
On the manage content protection tab, i am not able to see any items under “general protection”. Same thing with other membership level. ALl i have is : custom posts, comments, categories etc.. and under that select which content to protect set protection
if i press “set protection”, the system will answer me “failed to updated”
Any clue?
Thanks you
October 18, 2013 at 4:47 am #57820adminKeymasterThe one seems like an issue related to what is explained here:
you completely deleted the old copy of the plugin then installed the new version correct? Did you refresh the manage content protection page?
October 18, 2013 at 10:12 am #57821totalwebdesignMemberYes , i just reinstall the last emember plugin you sent me by email, and still the problem appear.
I have maybe a plugin conflict has mention here https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/test-to-identy-a-conflicting-theme-or-plugin
