Tagged: email address, username
I think this is a quick question. We would like to use an email address instead of a username. Is there a reason we can’t simply change the text on the registration page to ask for an email address, rather than a username? Is there a restriction on special characters (@ .)?
Is that too simple? Or is this a better option?

It’s better to use this:

FYI – We kept the eMember username plain to help the users who use the following option:
Automatically Create Affiliate Account
Some of our eMember users use the affiliate plugin and just like to make each of their members an affiliate. Having a plain eMember username that can also be used as an affiliate ID helps with that.
I have downloaded and installed the latest version of the WP eMember plugin and I now people registering can use their email address as a username.
But now I need to be able to change previous registrants usernames to their email address, or allow them to go in and change that themselves.
I can’t find where to do that. Is this possible?
We have created a free emember addon that will allow your users to use the “username” or the “email” address value in the member login widget. That should completely solve the issue. Let me know if that will work for you.
Yes, it sounds like that is what I need so previous members can use their email address when logging in. How do I go about getting this additional add on?
Thanks.
