I just started using eMember and followed the “How to Setup a Free Membership Site” tutorial closely. After completing the tutorial I tried registering as a test.
I received the email with the link and when I finished putting in the rest of the info
(username/pw) and hit register I received an error message stating “Email:The email address you are using is already taken! Please choose a different email address. .” As if its not recognizing that I’m trying to confirm the account?
This was my first time trying this so there are no other accounts on the site. I’m not sure where this error is coming from.
October 10, 2012 at 5:08 am #50256adminKeymasterWhat version of the eMember plugin are you using?
If you have checked the “Free Members Must Confirm Email Address” option from eMember settings then uncheck this settings and save it. Then try a free registration and let me know how that goes.
October 10, 2012 at 10:41 pm #50257skywalkerMemberI am using v8.2.5
I actually left it checked and tried it again a few minutes later and it worked.
I think it was because I was using the same name as my username, as soon as I
changed it to something else it worked.
The only thing now is its only allowing people with gmails to register?
I checked the “Manage Blacklist” too (which is completely blank) and I have
checked my spam/junk mail as well. I’ve tried it on yahoo mail and independent
server email accounts and none of them are going through other than gmail.
Any idea why this happening?
October 11, 2012 at 5:07 am #50258adminKeymasterWhen you say “not going through”, do you mean the email doesn’t arrive or you mean the eMember plugin is saying that they can’t use that address. Post a link to your registration page.
October 11, 2012 at 9:20 am #50259skywalkerMemberI meant the email doesn’t arrive. The plugin
acts normal and asks to check the email for the link.
October 12, 2012 at 1:26 am #50260adminKeymasterOkay that plugin is sending the email fine then. eMember doesn’t differentiate between email providers (unless you are using the blacklist option). However, your server might be blocking the emails sent to those addresses.
Go through this checklist to find out the source of the issue:
