eMember – Registration Form Spam

Our eMember registration form is suddenly receiving spam registrations, so we have several bogus members. I can delete them, but I’d like to stop the form from accepting spam registrations. All our plugins are up to date, what do you recommend we do to stop this?

Hi, are you using Google reCAPTCHA feature of eMember on your registration form? What version number of eMember are you using?

We are using v8.1.7. We are not using reCAPTCHA, let me see if I can get that set up!

Yeah definitely setup reCAPTCHA in eMember which will block the spam bots from being able to register.

Hi,

I also seem to be getting lots of spam registrations.

I have google reCAPTCHA setup and also have Manually Approve Member Registration and Free Members Must Confirm Email Address enabled.

I have temporarily removed the registration page from the menu to see if this helps.

I am using emembers version v8.6.8

Any ideas or other settings to try, although if removing the registration page from the menu works then it is not a major big deal as it is still accessible via the Join us page.

I would say give reCAPTCHA a go first. If that doesn’t work well for you then try one of our other captach options. The following emember addon lets you use a few different captcah options:
