Hi,
I have a quick question about the eMember plugin – I’ve already purchased your eStore and Affiliate plugins and have been really impressed and pleased with them – I’d also like to buy eMember, but I’m not entirely sure if it can do what I’m after.
Basically, I have a site where I sell digital products – people can either purchase these products individually or they can become a member and have access to all of the products.
What I therefore need to create is an “Account Page” where people can login and access/download the products they’ve purchased. Would eMember be able to do this? For example, if someone purchased Product A could they then log in and download just that product? Also, if they purchased Product B at a later date, could that then be added to their account? Moreover, if someone is a member of the site, could they have access to all of the products?
I also regularly create new products, so would there be an easy way in which I could make these available to members of the site, so that when I add it as a new product in eStore it immediately becomes available in their account?
I’m not sure how this might work. Maybe I could have a separate category for each product and only provide people access to those categories (i.e. products) if they’ve have purchased them. Would that work? Or could I have a separate post for each product? But then I would also like one page where I can display all of the products they have purchased (i.e. a page with thumbnails that they can click on which then starts the download of that product).
Apologies for the long message, but I’m really keen to know if eMember can do the above – if it can I’ll go and purchase it straight away.
Thanks for your help.
April 6, 2010 at 5:01 pm #19422mmoore5553Membercurious how did you do your membership ? i was thinking of doing the same thing .
April 7, 2010 at 5:57 am #19423amin007Participant@Leonardi, eMember won’t list individual product that customers bought using eStore but this is what it can do.
You can create a page (e.g. Member’s only download) and list all your product downloads here and protect this page for members so only the members can download the products. This page will explain this in details:
April 7, 2010 at 9:08 am #19424LeonardiMemberThanks for your reply – I just have one other question:
Members will initially pay $97 and then $10 every month after that – if they decided to cancel their membership after a few months will eMember recognize this and automatically stop them from being able to access the members/account area?
April 7, 2010 at 12:38 pm #19425IvyMemberHi, Yes if you are using the eStore with the eMember plugin. When a subscription is canceled Paypal will send information to the eStore and the subscription will be stopped.
Cheers,
Ivy
April 7, 2010 at 1:00 pm #19426LeonardiMemberThanks Ivy – sorry, one final question – inside of eStore is it possible to create a subscription button where the customer pays $97 initially and then $10 for each month after that? If this is not possible, is there a workaround I can use? I really need this functionality for my site.
Thanks again for your help.
April 8, 2010 at 12:33 am #19427IvyMemberHi, Yes this is possible. You will need to set the $97 as the trail period (Make sure to specify how long you want the trial period e.g 1 day, 7 days and so on). After the trial period ends it will charge them $10 per month (you need to put this information in the “Recurring Billing Amount”). You can find these settings under the “Add/Edit” products menu and then go to “Subscription/Recurring Payment Specific Settings” option.
Cheers,
Ivy

April 19, 2010 at 5:48 pm #19429tsmith426MemberHi Ivy,
I’m having a problem configuring a trial period for one of my products. I’ve done two things within Add/Edit Products in the control panel: in Trial Billing Amount, I’ve set the trial period to 0, and within Trial Billing Period, I’ve set the length of the trial period to one month. I then click “Save Product”, but when I go to my website and test a purchase, it shows the amount being billed as still the $5 monthly amount. Any help you could give on this would be greatly appreciated!

How to Add/Create a Subscription Button for Recurring Payment
Also please post a link to the page where the button is so I can check it out.
April 20, 2010 at 8:54 pm #19431tsmith426MemberAh, perfect – I had been using a shortcode that was an Add to Cart, instead of the subscription button shortcode. Changed it over, and the trial period setting worked just fine. Thank you!
April 20, 2010 at 11:00 pm #19432IvyMemberHi, I am glad you got this figured out. Please let us know if you need anything else.
