eMember Query member information

Hi,

I was wondering if there was a way to query a members information by their email address through the API.

I have people buying a membership from an outside source. I would like to be able to check their ID via their email address so that later when they purchase the second membership with the same email address I can query eMember info via api, get their Membership ID, then update their membership through the API.

Is this possible?

You just want to be able to see the details of a member given his email address correct?
