emember post protection – can I limit protected content to highest level members

We are building out our emember functionality for our site and have started adding emember_protected shortcodes. We want to show different licensing information with the download link based on membership level.

We’ve found however, that if a member has upgraded from our free level to the professional level, they see both the free level and the professional level content, even using the not_for shortcodes.

How can we make sure that members see only the content for their highest level of membership?

We want the paid membership to revert to free upon expiration – is there a way to do that without maintaining multiple membership levels?

Looks like you have enabled the multiple membership level per user feature. When you use this feature, it will apply all the membership level that his user purchase to his/her profile. Then they will be able to see/access content according to all the levels they have in their profile.

You should disable that feature since you only want the member to have the last purchased membership level (this is the default behavior of the plugin when you don’t enable the multiple level feature). So the member will ONLY have one level applied to his profile at any given time. He will be able to see content based on that one level.

You can use the following auto-downgrade addon to automatically downgrade them to a free level when their main/paid membership expires:
