eMember – page protection not hiding widget

Hi.

Looking for something current (2019) on how to protect widgets on pages.

I can easily protect content on pages but when not logged in those pages show both the message about needing to be logged in and the full widget sidebar with links that I want hidden with the page.

Is there a simple way without custom CSS? like “check this box to hide widgets” ?
