WP eMember doesn’t modify any capability. When it creates the WordPress user, it simply assigns the “Role” you specified for that particular membership level. I am pretty sure that role editor plugin is applying some filter to change the custom capability after the user is logged in via WordPress. I will send you an email to get site access so I can check it out more.
I’m having this problem as well. I’ve created a test account that you can use to try and log into my site.

Here is the debug log:

The settings are enabled to create both a WordPress and eMember account and to login to both automatically during login. However, I’m only able to log into eMember after creating an account.
Hi, The issue with the “Test3” account is the following:
[07/14/2013 11:45 PM] – SUCCESS :You have auto login to WP enabled but WP User doesn’t exist for this user! WP User login won’t execute.
Basically, there is no WP User with username “Test3”. How does a user create an account on your site? Does the membership account get created via eMember’s registration form? I tried going to your “Join Us” page but I did not see any link or option to signup for a membership account. What version of eMember are you using?
I’m using version 8.6.8
The registration form can only be accessed through the auto-responder when someone becomes a reseller of GVO.
So here’s the join page that users will create an account with.

The plugin is still in debug mode.
Thanks for the help! Your support is awesome.
Okay I just did a test signup myself and everything worked fine for me. It correctly created my account and eMember and in WP User area. Then it logged me into both areas. So I see no issue. Create a test account yourself now and verify this.
I don’t know how you created that “test3” account but it is not correct so delete that account and create a new one.
Ah great! It works. I’ve reinstalled wordpress, maybe that did it.
Thank you for all your help!
