Not a programmer so bear with me…

Bought and installed affiliate and emember. Affiliate works great.

Installed emember and set up according to instructions and videos. To the best of my knowledge, everything is set up properly.

I only want to have a paid memberships using paypal standard. I created the paypal button using the ipn code (with my domain and member id inserted) and installed the paypay button on my site.

When I purchase, I am taken to the thank you page I created, but no email that contains registration information is received. I also don’t receive an email with the paypay receipt.

I do however receive an email from paypay to my admin email address that a purchase has occurred.

I have tried with two different people and email addresses and still no registration email.

I presume I do not have something connected or a particular box clicked inside the program.

I did see on this forum another similar issue where the response was to turn on the API inside of Paypal. I went to that section and cant’t tell if I need to do something there or not

I’m at the point where I’m ready to throw the computer into the wall…

Any thoughts on how to fix this for a desperate non computer guy?…Thank you.

    Hi Mark

Not wanting to Hijack your thread, but rather than posting a duplicate forum thread – I am having the exact same issue as well, exactly the same setup.

I’ve tried everything I can think of.

    Best Regards

    Andy

    Hi Mark

    Still trying to sort it….

But to start of it was my fault, I had set up a 503 (tells google that I was down for maintenance), so I checked the IPN status from Paypal by going to:

‘My Account’ -> ‘History’ -> ‘IPN History’

It gives you a list, so yeah, I had a few 503 erros, one 404 error (due not changing the IPN line from the instructions).

However, it’s still not sorted and no emails are coming through.

    Hi Mark

I guess I just need more sleep on a night time….

It was my fault, because I was getting myself worked up a bit.

Basically I had created the ‘buy’ now button with the instructions but left in the [www.your-domain-name.com]

    notify_url=http://www.your-domain-name.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-eMember/ipn/eMember_handle_paypal_ipn.php

    custom=subsc_ref=2

I had created a new button, but forgot to add it to the membership page, kinda embarrassing!..

Mark, I would check the ‘IPN History’ on the paypal site, it made me look at what I was doing then it clicked!.

Fingers crossed you can get yours sorted and fixed!.

    Thanks

    Andy

    Glad you got it resolved…

I know I inserted the ipn domain properly, but I will check the paypal history also.

    good luck.

I’m still hoping someone from emember can advise me, if they can’t I’m stuck.

    Hi,

Please follow the instructions in the link below to help us troubleshoot the issue:

    Peter:

Thank you for your response. I have set the ipn code correctly into paypal. I also turned on the ipn profile under history in Paypay.

I enabled the debug checkbox and did a transaction. Still no email. When I went to click on the links below the debug section to check for error codes, I got an absolute white screen with nothing whatsoever on the screen.

Evidently, I am missing something very simple., but don’t what else to do.

Well basically, the plugin is not receiving the IPN. There can be a few reasons for it. This checklist will help you identify the issue:

I have reviewed all of the checklists that you have and the solution is beyond my ability to solve as a non technical person.

But I would bet that the solution is easy for someone who is more knowledgeable.

Are there any other alternatives to try and solve this? I really like the functionality of the software and would like to keep using, but right now this is the only thing keeping me from launching my site.

    Thank you.

@Mark, Please provide the following details and I will be able to give you a hand

    1) What value have you put in the “Advanced Variation” section of the PayPal button? Refer to this documentation if you don’t know what I mean by “advanced variable”:

    http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-membership/how-to-use-a-simple-paypal-payment-button-to-accept-membership-payment-146

    2) Post a link to the page where you placed this PayPal button.

    3) What version of eMember are you using?
