I am running 8.7.9 eMember and having several multiple membership issues.
1) this is the big one, when a client in one program purchases another program they are no longer allowed access to the first program. For instance, a client will purchase a prenatal program first and while they are still in that program they will get the post partum program that they do not want to start for a few months. Once they purchase (even though they have not activated the new registration link) they cannot get access to the program they are currently in. How do I fix this?
2) If a client purchases a program as a gift for someone else, their program starts over. Is there a way to gift a membership other than having us do it manually?
December 8, 2014 at 3:33 am #67255wzpModerator- Do you have secondary (stacked) membership levels enabled?
- If you are using the eStore plugin, you can sell serial numbers, which are in reality 100% off membership discount coupons. The recipient would then use the 100% discount coupon to “purhase” their membership.

I already have the secondary membership levels enabled. On the back end it still shows they have access but when they go to login it sends the to the newest program purchased only. Perhaps I need to create the Membership Levels page so they can have links to all of their memberships? Is that the best option? If so, I will spend some time trying to figure that out.
As far as the gift certificate… Are you suggesting I create serial numbers (like gift certificate numbers in my case) and sell those? Then the recipient would need to contact us and we would need to set up their membership or is there a way for them to activate it with that code?

What you could do is create a page with links to the different membership areas. But you would use partial content protection, to ensure that links are only displayed if the member has a particular membership level:

- Using eStore, create a series of 100% off coupons for membership.

This will allow people to “redeem” their gift certificates for membership. Since the redemption is handled through eStore, it will automagically setup the accounts; as if the user had paid for a membership.
- You then use eStore to sell the coupon codes.
When a person “buys” a gift membership, they get a (serial number) coupon code. They then give it to the recipient, who visits eStore and purchases their membership using the 100% discount code.
Unless you are doing something non standard, the process should not require admin intervention.
