The WP member records on my staging site seem to be out of sync with the WP users. I first experienced when logging in that it brings me to the page to say that I don’t have permission to view and the option is given to login or join; just like when you’re trying to view a protected page as public. When I navigate back to the homepage, the WP member widget on the homepage says that I’ve successfully logged out, when I haven’t clicked any logout link.
When I then try to login to the WP admin, it appears that the WP user that is related to the member is logged in. So while the member login did not register, the WP user did login.
I went thru this on debug and noted that the WP user that is being referred to is a different user from the member where there is a failure. See pasted below where bbb is the member username and xxx is the admin of WordPress. Not sure how bbb member has become related to xxx WP user. Hope you can advise. Thanks.

[05/06/2017 5:54 AM] – SUCCESS :login_through_wp() called with username = xxx

May 6, 2017 at 12:07 pm #75634wzpModeratorAre you trying to have your site setup such that, there is a 1:1 correspondence between a particular WordPress user and a particular eMember user?
May 6, 2017 at 12:14 pm #75635karencheahMemberBy 1:1, do you mean that every eMember has a corresponding WP user (but not necessarily every WP user has eMember). If that’s the case, then yes, it was working like that and I’m not sure what triggered the change.
I do a lot of tests on the staging site. I could probably restore a backup. But I thought that if something I have done could have broken the plugin, it’s best to report it. If you can fix it, it should make the plugin more robust.

Please check these 2 settings:
- WP eMember –> General Settings –> Automatically log into WordPress –> CHECKED
- WP eMember –> General Settings –> Automatically log into eMember –> UNCHECKED
Check the usernames of both the users (the one in WP user and in eMember), is there a corresponding record for the user in both emember and wp user table?
May 8, 2017 at 12:59 am #75637karencheahMemberThanks, the second setting (automatically log into eMember) was checked and I have unchecked it. There are corresponding usernames in WP user and eMember. The debug log now shows a bit different but the symptom is still the same.
[deleted debug after checking it]
