Hi,
I have 60 subscribers for my site that subscribed from a paypal button.
I want to now import them into wp-emember and lock my site down, but I don’t know how to do that.
Is that possible?
Many thanks,
Mike

They joined here: [http://www.mikeoutram.com/2014/02/start-it-up/]
That’s just a paypal button straight to me.
My subscription site is here: [www.electriccampfire.com]
I’m currently just password protecting the pages on that site.
I want to somehow get all the people who paypal-ed me to join my site into emember so I can properly lock out the site.
February 27, 2014 at 12:08 am #61109wzpModeratorYou’re going to have to do a transitional thing…
Are you using individual passwords or a common password for the site?
Also, do the existing users have user names assigned?
Since we’re only talking about 60 users…
You’re going to construct a CSV file that is compatible with this eMember plugin:

You’ll have to enter the information for the current subscriptions.
To keep things “kosher” with PayPal, you might have to have users resubscribe under new membership subscriptions, at the end of their current terms. I’m not sure if PayPal would allow the existing subscriptions to be renewed, after they are transferred.
Even if PayPal allowed existing subscriptions to continue, it would be a good idea to make everyone transition to new subscriptions, so that if they ever cancelled, the cancellation IPN would be handled properly.

The users do not have user names assigned. Do I need to create usernames for them?
I should mention there are 13 subscribers on recurring monthly billing. The rest signed up for a year only, so for them they aren’t on a recurring cycle. I didn’t set the paypal button to auto renew after a year. Does that make a difference?
I think asking people to renew the subscription [if they want] for the people who signed up for a year is fine. Is it possible to just create usernames and import/add them to emember?
I have a few monthly subscribers too. I could maybe ask them to resubscribe if needs be.
February 27, 2014 at 5:24 pm #61111wzpModeratorOkay, this is going to be more of a logistical issue, than a technical one…
I’m going to recommend this approach, based on speed and efficiency, and because you have a small number of users…
* Create your regular subscription membership level in eMember.
* Manually create eMember accounts for the existing users, for the membership level. Each account has their own unique user name and password. Set the expiration of the accounts to the current expiration date for each user.
* Email the user names to the users, and tell them to use the “Forgot Password” link on the login form to recover and choose new passwords.
* CANCEL all the existing PayPal subscriptions. You already “got your money,” and I’m hoping the next subscription cycle for anyone isn’t next week.
* As each new member subscribes, they are given new recurring PayPal subscriptions.
* As each of the original membership subscriptions expire, ask them to renew their subscriptions, via new recurring PayPal subscriptions.
February 27, 2014 at 7:41 pm #61112VtreinamentosMemberI am using the eStore, and in my tests I saw that when the customer buy the product, the subscripton is make by paypal only. Do I need the eMembers to make the subscription of my clients on my ecommerce?
February 27, 2014 at 10:04 pm #61113wzpModeratorWere the existing 60 subscriptions made through eStore, or by a PayPal button, created by PayPal?
March 6, 2014 at 11:59 am #61114Just wanted to let you know I’m still working on this. Collecting usernames from everyone is taking ages!
Thanks for your help!
