I am unable to extend an expired membership via admin. Most of my members pay via manual method. I need a way to extend their membership via the admin interface

What version of the eMember plugin you have installed?
Kind regards
March 28, 2014 at 5:13 am #61877adminKeymasterWhen you are manually updating a member’s account status or membership level, you should also update the value of the “Subscription Start Date” field.
Otherwise, the plugin will count the days from the old value that you have and see that the user’s expiry condition is true so it will expire the account again. So for example: if you have the member in a 30 day membership and his/her subscription start day is 30 days in the past, the plugin will expire the account. So make sure to adjust the subscription start date field’s value accordingly.
How the Member’s Expiry Date is Calculated
You specify what expiry you want in the membership level configuration then you assign a level to a member’s profile.
If you have configured a membership level to have 60 days duration then that member will get 60 days from the date that is specified in the “Subscription Start Date” field of that member. The subscription start date is set to the day the member joins a membership level. So if the subscription start date is currently set to 01-01-2017 then that member’s account will expire at the end of February (60 days from the 1st of January).
You can edit a member’s record and change the “Subscription Start Date” field’s value to manually change when the member’s account expires. So if you set the subscription start date value to 1st of February and the member’s level offers a 60 days access. Then the member’s account will expire at the end of March.
February 14, 2017 at 1:50 pm #61878ally0929MemberBut what if the subscription expires on a fixed date….say the last day of the year. What happens, if they renew? How does the system know what the expiration date is then?
February 15, 2017 at 12:06 am #61879adminKeymasterThe fixed date expiry option in a membership level should be used when you want members of that level to expire on that day (no matter what).
If you want a different expiry condition for a member then create a NEW membership level with a different type of expiry settings. Apply the content protection accordingly for this newly created membership level. Then assign this new level to the member in question.
Please read the membership level documentation to understand how it is used to control the content protection and expiry:
