We recently installed the Easy WP SMTP plug-in and configured it to use a particular email address, let’s call it 123@abc.com. In the eMember settings for email pages, I am using a different email address for emails sent when a member joins, renews, expires, etc. Let’s call that email address xyz@456.com.

We found that the emails sent by eMember were using the SMTP email address as the ‘From’ sender (i.e., 123@abc.com). I discovered a setting in the Easy WP SMTP plugin in the Additional Settings tab where it looked like you could enter email addresses that the SMTP plugin would NOT override (this field was labeled ‘From’). Here, I entered the xyz@456.com email address, thinking that SMTP would not override the eMember emails.

Turns out this didn’t work. eMember still sent out emails from 123@abc.com. When we deactivated the SMTP plugin, the eMember emails worked as expected.

Is there some way to configure the SMTP plugin to allow eMember to use the ‘From’ email address specified in the eMember settings when those emails are triggered?

    Thanks,
    Terri

What do you have in the “From Name” field in the Easy WP SMTP settings?

We are using vcgsgen@gmail.com in the Easy WP SMTP ‘From’ setting and we’re using membership@venturacogensoc.org as the ‘From’ email in eMember.

And you want membership@venturacogensoc.org to be in the emails, right? So, is the previously mentioned setting ON or OFF?

I want the membership@venturacogensoc.org to be the From email address for only the emails that eMember sends out when an event is triggered (e.g., prompt to complete registration, registration complete, etc.), not for any emails sent out by any other means.

I’m not sure what setting you’re referring to that has an ON or OFF option.

If you configure SMTP, all the outgoing emails will contain the ONE from address value that is configured in the SMTP configuration. That’s very normal and proper way for a business to function in terms of outgoing emails.

The way you want to configure won’t work with the current setup you have. I will send you an email.
