I am a new customer for the eMember plugin and run into an issue of being able to create a new member manually. I am running the latest version of WordPress (3.5) and my version of eMember is WP eMembers – Members v8.4.7 (bought a few days ago). I have already installed, un-installed the plugin twice, but still I get this error. When I enter the new member, there is NO error message. The error message appears when I try to view the newly added member and there are no records. When I try to re-enter the member again (with same ID), it will accept it which tells me that it never was entered in the first place. I am at loss where to go from here… To make sure it has nothing to do with the Theme, I tried to install it on another domain/skin with the same versions. Same result. I am running two WordPress instances from the same MySQL database (with different pre-fix of course).
Thanks a bunch!

What is the exact error message you are getting?
” To make sure it has nothing to do with the Theme, I tried to install it on another domain/skin with the same versions.”
This is not the best way to check for a theme or plugin conflict.
Please switch to the standard twentyeleven or twentyten theme and try again as per the instructions in this link:

January 4, 2013 at 3:26 pm #52781DrSalonenMemberThansk for the response. I have now tested out to switch to twentyeleven and also decativated most of the plugins and the results is still the same.. I get this error that couln’t create a member…. Any suggestions how to proceed from here… I evaluated multiple solutions in this domain, ended up with WP eMember of many reasons (I bought eStore and a bunch of others from you). I hope to get this to work…
Thanks,
Petri

January 5, 2013 at 12:12 am #52783nurMemberHi Petri, Are you using eMember’s custom field feature on this site?
January 5, 2013 at 12:28 am #52784DrSalonenMemberAdmin, I just sent the details….
Nur, no, I do not have any custom fields…
January 5, 2013 at 8:39 pm #52785nurMemberHi, it looks like you are using window azure platform to host your site. its almost certain that the database isn’t allowing to insert data. I tried to publish a post and i couldn’t succeed there too. i can see two probable reasons for it.
1. for some reason db permissions were destroyed. so the db user in wordpress config doesn’t have enough privilege to insert data to database.
2. azure platform provides mysql database support through various 3rd party provider. I am not sure which one you are using. But one provider i know is cleardb. this company offer up to 20mb of free mysql database space. if this quota is used up then it automatically removes insert and update privilege.
January 5, 2013 at 11:29 pm #52786DrSalonenMemberHi Nur,
Yes, we are using Azure platform that provides WordPress out of the box… When you say that you tried to publish something and failed.. I am putting new entries to the database without issues…. I logged on to the site with the credentials I gave you (admin) and was able to create a blog entry…
I am building our web-site with posts and everything seem to work fine… check out the the web-site and you can see that I am putting entries without any issues.
When you say that the DB permissions are destroyed, can you give me more guidance what you mean by this? I am using wordpress out of the box on Azure and there should not be any restrictions to it.

January 6, 2013 at 2:45 am #52787DrSalonenMemberHi Nur again,
I did also check it out from Azure management portal and decided to upgrade to 1 gig.. but it might be that the the insert and update privilege have been removed.. I need to figure out how to restore them…. Will let you know…

January 6, 2013 at 8:01 pm #52788DrSalonenMemberHi Nur,
I got this confirmation from the ClearDB vendor today:
“Your database privileges have been restored; generally when the condition that caused the write lock is resolved (in your case by upgrading) it can take up to 20 minutes for the system to notice and take action”
I tried to remove the plugin (by deleting from the dashboard) and it fails. Thereafter I also used to delete the plugin using FTP (with success). However, when I review the database with MySQL workbench, it has not removed the tables, none of the ones that I purhased from you guys.
As the DB should be now fixed, can you see if you can get it to work. I have removed everything now (besides not been able to remove the tables as I do not want to mess up anything in my WP install).
Thanks a bunch!

January 7, 2013 at 2:11 am #52789adminKeymasterThis should be fixed now. The ip address field on your system was too long so MySQL was rejecting the insert query. We have made that field bigger so this shouldn’t be an issue anymore.
