I am using eMember as my membership platform and I love it! I have chosen WP Symposium as my forum/social plugin and they play together quite nicely. However, I prefer the Symposium plugin for managing the member profiles since it edits the WP profiles, and allows for image uploading and cropping. It works really nicely and integrates with the forum and social elements.

However, the only problem I am encountering is that when eMember is active, I am unable to have my uploaded profile images show up. People can upload them and crop them via Symposium, but they never show up. As soon as I deactivate eMember they show up. Is there a work around or something that can be done so the uploaded profile images work?

    Thanks so much!

Where doesn’t the profile image show? in eMember’s profile edit section?

When we just use eMember profile, the uploaded image becomes distorted and also does not show in the ‘user’ area of wordpress, so it does not translate to other plugins that use the ‘user’ profiles, so that is why we are using symposium to manage it. Is there a way to turn off the profiles etc. of eMember so that we do not have the conflict between eMember and WP Symposium? We want to be able to upload images that are used in all areas of the member area that other members can see in profiles, forums etc. taking the place of Gravatar. Not everyone wants to register there. Not sure if this helps you, but any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

You can turn off eMember’s profile image option from the following section:

WP eMember Settings -> Pages/Forms settings -> Enable Profile Thumbnail image (uncheck it)

I am still having this exact issue. Was a solution other than that mentioned above found? I have turned off everything in emember, and still symposium avatar does the exact same thing. Deactivate emember, and the symposium avatar works fine.

This is after you turn off the profile thumbnail option in eMember’s edit profile section right?

Have you tried enabling the following option in eMember settings?

    Use Gravatar Image in Profile
